The Measurement of Radar Cross Section

Radar Target Imaging

Abstract

The modern design of radar systems and the development of electromagnetic theory require experimental measurement of electromagnetic scattering. In the past, such measurements were done using instrumentation radars often located a mile or more from the target of interest [5.1]. This distance was necessary to allow a spherical wavefront to propagate to a distance where it approximated a plane wave over the target zone.
