Zusammenfassung

Die Infektion der Nasennebenhöhlen ist eine der häufigsten Erkrankungen im Kindesalter, dennoch wird dieses Problem häufig nicht erkannt. Ein Faktor, der dazu beiträgt, daß die Sinusitis bei Kindern oft nicht diagnostiziert wird, ist die Häufigkeit ihrer Hauptsymptome — Rhinorrhö und Husten. Diese finden sich auch als Hauptsymptome anderer gutartiger Erkrankungen der oberen Atemwege, wie z. B. Allergien, vasomotorischen Dysfunktionen und Virusinfektionen. Da diese Symptome normalerweise von selbst ausheilen, werden sie oft unterschätzt und wenn ihnen eine chronische Sinusitis zugrunde liegt, kann sich da-durch deren Diagnose und Behandlung verzögern.
