Abstract
Crystals with this structure exhibit a complex mixture of covalent and ionic properties together with a generally high polarizability of the lattice ions. In crystals which are close to a phase transition to a more ionic structure (such as CuCl), strong anharmonic effects were observed [10.37, 38]. The most successful model seems, at present, a combination of valence, ionic, and polarization forces including the overlap polarizability [10.11], Another interesting is the asymmetric version of the bond charge model [10.12].
