Zusammenfassung
Die Endoskopie hat sowohl eine direkte als auch eine indirekte Funktion bei der lokalen Behandlung der Rektumtumoren (Tabelle 1). Die direkte Funktion der Endoskopie besteht darin, die Lokalisation, die Größe sowie die makroskopischen Aspekte des Tumors zu bestimmen und somit wesentliche Elemente für die chirurgische Therapiewahl zu liefern. Die indirekte Funktion besteht darin, wesentliche Daten des Typings, Gradings und Stagings bereitzustellen [1], die nur durch die histologische Untersuchung des endoskopisch gewonnenen Biopsiematerials ermittelt werden können. Schließlich hat die Rektoskopie eine direkte und indirekte Funktion, wenn es darum geht, eine R-Klassifizierung vorzunehmen [2], d.h. etwaig bei der Polypektomie zurückgelassenes Tumorgewebe nachzuweisen.
