Abstract
The present volume is a revised and expanded version of the European School of Oncology Monograph on Air Pollution and Human Cancer which was published in 1991. The 1991 version dealt only with outdoor air pollution, and the authors proposed for the subsequent volume to consider also indoor pollution because it may be as relevant or even more relevant as outdoor pollution in certain circumstances. This is related to particular characteristics of indoor pollution as well as to the fact that most people today spend more time indoors than outdoors.
