Zusammenfassung
Face-to-face Interaktion ist im Standardfall multimedial, denn die sprachlich kodierte Information wird von vielen anderen Kommunikationsmitteln begleitet, z.B. von Intonation, Mimik und Gestik. Multimedial sind ferner alle Kombinationen von Text mit graphischem Material, z.B. Abbüdungen, Diagrammen und Karten. In aufgabenorientierten Dialogen sind vor allem diejenigen außersprachlichen Mittel relevant, die sprachliche Informationen ergänzen oder teüweise ersetzen.
Die Vorteile der Multimedialität in natürlichen Kommunikationssituationen motivieren den Wunsch, multimediale Dialogsysteme anzubieten. Technische Voraussetzung hierfür war die Entwicklung einer Vielzahl von Ein– und Ausgabemitteln. Die vorliegende Arbeit unterscheidet verschiedene Arten von Multimedialität und stellt zwei wesentliche Anwendungsbereiche dar: die multimediale Präsentation von Informationen und die multimediale Spezifikation von sichtbaren Diskursobjekten.
