Abstract

The spermiogram only takes account of some of the possible aspects of disturbed male fertility. Nevertheless, it is a simple and therefore practicable method of investigation to provide a basic assessment of a man’s abihty to reproduce. Although the ejaculate analysis provides no conclusive evidence of a man’s prospects of fertility, as the most important parameter of semen quahty it will nevertheless retain its central role in the search for the reasons for involuntary childlessness.
