Abstract
The Black Sea is on the verge of ecological catastrophe. The marine ecosystem is threatened with destruction. The sea and land close to the sea are polluted with oil products, heavy metals, organic fertilizers and radioactive materials. The biological resources of the sea are decreasing at a disastrous rate, and many kinds of fish and sea products are no longer fit for human consumption or are actually harmful.
