Abstract

A comparison of the acquisition of gender in German and English is of funda-mental theoretical interest, since these two languages are examples of two quite different gender systems. As was discussed in detail above, the systems are distinct in the extent to which they are present in the language and as to the kind of rules which exist for assigning gender.
