Abstract

Acute pancreatitis represents a spectrum of inflammatory disease which ranges from acute edematous pancreatitis, a relatively mild and self-limiting inflammatory process with a low incidence of complications, to acute hemorrhagic or necrotizing pancreatitis, which is a pernicious process with a high mortality rate and frequent complications [1].
