Abstract

This 53 year-old Indian male presented with an extensive area of homogenous leukoplakia, involving a large portion of his left buccal mucosa (see Fig. 8.1). He was a resident of the State of Kerala in the southern tip of India. His mixed tobacco habit included “pan” (betel quid with tobacco) and “bidi” (a homemade cigar). He had practiced these tobacco habits for many years. The lesion was painless, but he had noticed it inside his mouth.
