Abstract
For many years, continuous epidural anesthesia has been the method of choice for the provision of analgesia during and after operations in our department. Two cases of anterior spinal artery syndrome [3] have occurred during the course of aortofemoral-bypass surgery. The etiology of the developing paraplegia, such as epidural hematoma caused by intraoperative hepatization or local neurotoxic damage due to local anesthetics, has been discussed.
