Zusammenfassung

Wie so viele Themen in den Sozialwissenschaften kann man auch den Systemvergleich auf die Arbeiten von Platon und Aristoteles zurückführen (siehe ihre jeweiligen Bücher über den Staat [28] und [1]). Schon damals war es das Ziel solcher Bemühungen, nach einem besseren Gesellschaftssystem Ausschau zu halten, das politische und das ökonomische System inbegriffen. Die jeweils gewählten Ansätze sind typisch für viele nachfolgende Versuche in dieser Richtung geblieben:

  • Platon: die mehr oder minder utopische Konstruktion eines optimalen Systems, das für sich genommen als statische Konstruktion äußerst rigide erscheinen mußte. Die Kritik daran vom Standpunkt historischer, offener Gesellschaften scheint auf der Hand zu liegen (vgl. z.B. Popper [29]);

  • Aristoteles: der Vergleich tatsächlich bestehender Systeme zum selektiven Gebrauch der als effizient erkannten Systemelemente.
