Abstract
A description of the conductivity anomalies discovered before 1974 can be found in Rokityansky (1975). As the number of the anomalies reported has doubled since then, they deserve to be treated in a special book. In this chapter only two or three anomalies are described briefly with the purpose of illustrating the said techniques in operation. The main results of the study of the anomalies are being summarized and analyzed.
“The beauties of the planet Earth, its hills and rivers, mountains and oceans, which have attracted explorers on long journey into unknowns, will always remain some of the few things a mind would like to know about. Recent developments in Earth sciences have revealed that many of these surface manifestations have their origin in the deeper layers of Earth far inaccessible to direct observations. When a source cannot be approached directly it can be understood only through the effects it produces. The convections deep down in the Earth do produce lateral inhomogeneities in the crust and upper mantle leading even to plate motions and earthquakes” (Singh 1978).
MVP and MTS techniques are effective means for investigation of the lateral inhomogeneities that reveal themselves as electrical conductivity anomalies.
