Man weiß aus Erfahrung, daß die Dicke der von einer bestimmten Maschine gefertigten Plättchen normalverteilt ist. Um Hypothesen über die mittlere Dicke μ der Plättchen zu prüfen, werden 10 Plättchen gefertigt; man mißt ihre Dicke und erhält (in mm) 3,18; 3,01; 3,16; 3,00; 3,23; 3,08; 2,95; 3,11; 3,21; 3,07.
