Abstract

Hepatic malignancies include primary and secondary (or metastatic) tumors. In children, primary tumors are the rule, and most are malignant. Primary liver malignancies are also more common in adult populations of sub-Saharan Africa, China, and other less industrialized areas of the world, but the majority of liver tumors diagnosed among adults in the developed areas are metastatic.
