Abstract
In Holland all official examinations are organized by central national training organizations. These exams are summative evaluations.
Modular Systems and flexibilization are in full swing. At the same time, the various training institutions tend to become too large as a result of mergers. This means more different examinations have to be produced, that there must be more frequent times of examination and more types of examination. In practice, the feasibility of “tailored” flexible training also depends on a flexible and controllable test and examination System. So the introduction of a computerized item bank System seems much desired.
This paper contains a report of a research on existing or developing item bank Systems in Holland. The CIBB was commissioned by the common national training organizations. Part of the commission was Coming up with a well-founded implementation proposal.
