Abstract
In the last decade, the methods of scientific computing and the usage of supercomputers have become a common and successful tool of research in all branches of physics. This is demonstrated by the wide range of physical applications that is covered by the following articles, which present a selection of the currently running projects with general physical background at the supercomputing centres in Stuttgart and Karlsruhe.
