Zusammenfassung
Die Non-Compliance, d.h. das Nichtbeachten der Hygienevorschriften, stellt nach wie vor das Hauptproblem der Händehygiene im Gesundheitsbereich dar [1]. In diesem Kapitel werden die Indikationen für die Händehygiene bei der Patientenversorgung auf der Grundlage der unlängst überarbeiteten Richtlinien und weitere in der Literatur verwendete Definitionen besprochen. Dabei werden unterschiedliche Compliance-Niveaus und Risikofaktoren für die Non-Compliance sowie Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten diskutiert. Auch Strategien für ein erfolgreiches Propagieren einer besseren Händehygiene werden besprochen.
