Zusammenfassung
In diesem Kapitel werden die Prinzipien und Konzepte der modernen Infektionsepidemiologie dargestellt. Nach einer Definition des Begriffs Epidemiologie und der Charakterisierung ihrer Rolle für die Gesundheitswissenschaften (Public Health) werden die Spezifika der Epidemiologie von Infektionen und Infektionskrankheiten behandelt. Auβer einer Übersicht tiber die theoretisch und praktisch relevanten Konzepte der Infektionsepidemiologie enthält das Kapitel Definitionen der für diese Disziplin wichtigsten Begriffe.
