Zusammenfassung
Verletzungen des Thorax werden im Allgemeinen in Frontal- und Seitenkollisionen sowie in Kollisionen, deren Anprallwinkel zwischen diesen beiden Extremen liegt, erlitten. Häufig entstehen Thoraxverletzungen durch direkten Anprall, beispielsweise an Strukturen des Fahrzeuginnenraums wie dem Lenkrad, dem Sicherheitsgurt, der Türe oder dem Armaturenbrett. Im Sport kann ein Anprall durch Kontakt mit einem Mitspieler (Fussball, Eishockey) oder durch Schläge (Boxen, Taekwondo) erfolgen. Die meisten Thoraxverletzungen entstehen als Folge eines stumpfen Anpralls. Verletzungen durch Kontakt mit spitzen, scharfkantigen Objekten sind im Rahmen von Strassenverkehrsunfällen selten. Sie können allenfalls durch Gegenstände im Fahrzeuginnenraum verursacht werden oder kommen vor, wenn ein Fahrzeuginsasse aus dem Fahrzeug herausgeschleudert wird. Verletzungen durch stumpfen Anprall stehen daher im Vordergrund dieses Kapitels.
