Abstract

Unicompartmental arthroplasty (UKA) is a well-established treatment option for unicompartmental osteoarthritis of the knee. There are many advantages of UKA over total knee arthroplasty (TKA). In particular UKA has as good pain relief if not better, there is a better “feel,” the range of motion is greater, UKA has normal kinematics, and the complications are fewer with UKA and less severe when compared to TKA.
