Summary

The availability of transverse positional information in emission computed tomography (ECT) opens new avenues for image reconstruction algorithms that may provide improved image quality. Two new algorithms, one a filtering technique and the other a recursive approach, have been developed for ECT image reconstruction with transverse positional data. These two new methods offer potential advantages in terms of computation time and/or image quality relative to previous algorithms that employ transverse positional information.
