Abstract

In this last section of Part I we return to general considerations of the evolution of the M. C. The new results will concern primarily non-recurrent (essential or inessential) states. Logically speaking, this section may be placed immediately after ยง 4 as it is largely independent of the developments thereafter. Its postponement is partly due to the methodological difference and partly due to its being an introduction to an as yet unexplored part of the theory of M.C.
