Zusammenfassung
Der Hausarzt spielt bei der Entdeckung und Behandlung von Hypertonikern eine entscheidende Rolle. Die indirekte Methode der Blutdruckmessung nach Riva-Rocci ist dabei für ihn das Standardverfahren zur Diagnose der Hypertonie. Obwohl diese Methode den wahren arteriellen Blutdruckwert nur näherungsweise angibt, ist die gewonnene Information für die Einschatzung des Risikos einer vorzeitigen kardiovaskularen Erkrankung und für die Einschätzung der Behandlungsbedürftigkeit unverzichtbar.
