Abstract
Synovial irritation that persists in varying frequency and intensity with tendency of swelling, so that, in the typical cases, impingement occurs with sudden pain attacks as a consequence (“like a knife into the joint”). Much more common condition than expected. On arthroscopy there are often synovial protrusions of lip-like or sea-grass appearance, sometimes also fibrous bands (plica formation) or meniscoid lesions. Palpation tenderness, especially against the ankle joint anteriorly.
