Activities of Transport Telematics (TST 2013)

Abstract

Due to the increasing market competition, large retailers search for new methods to optimize and streamline deliveries based on telematics, which enable them to obtain a wide range of quality products while maintaining a high effectiveness, flexibility and efficiency of the supply chain. It is the cross docking that plays the key role in achieving the goal. The main idea of the concept is that goods are delivered to a warehouse and immediately prepared for further shipment, without stockpiling. The process requires an effective system of telematics. The theoretical deliberation on cross docking systems has been supplemented with a practical verification of its usefulness based on an example of a selected retail chain - Auchan Poland.
