Abstract

Document images digitalized with cameras are framed with parts of the background where the document lied on. In the case of images acquired with portable digital cameras such background may be complex, of non-uniform colors and texture. This paper presents a new algorithm designed to remove the background of document images acquired using portable digital cameras. Comparative tests performed show that the new algorithm largely outperforms its predecessor.
