Zusammenfassung
In diesem Kapitel beleuchten wir, welche Faktoren dazu beitragen können, dass soziale Ängste sich nicht „auswachsen“ oder von selbst verschwinden, sondern sich verfestigen und das Leben Betroffener zunehmend einschränken. Dabei gehen wir auf Selbst- und Fremdbeurteilung, Aufmerksamkeitsprozesse und die Bedeutung von Körpersignalen ein; wir beleuchten den zweischneidigen Effekt von Versuchen, die Ängste zu verbergen oder zu verstecken und erklären bestimmte Gedächtnisprozesse, von denen gezeigt wurde, dass sie zur Aufrechterhaltung sozialer Ängste beitragen.
