The Vitreous State

Abstract

This chapter is devoted to the description of the structure of glasses. In line with the general approach employed in writing the present book it is not attempted to give a precise description of the structure of particular glasses but structural hypotheses and results of structural investigations are summarized which give the possibility to draw more or less general conclusions concerning the structural principles of glasses, valid for any type or, at least, for large classes of glass-forming systems.
