Abstract

The sensitivity of a vehicle to cross-wind depends on many factors involving the design of the suspensions and the aerodynamics of the body [1, 2]. However, the knowledge about this phenomenon has still to be improved, in order to develop vehicles with optimum characteristics for cross-wind sensitivity and high-speed stability. Moreover, also the driver perception of the phenomenon is poorly understood. The object of the present study is to improve the global understanding of the vehicle response to cross-wind, focussing on testing procedures, objective/subjective correlation and simulation.
