Abstract

An experimental device of electromagnetic guided wave generator is designed. The generator is stimulated by high power pulse, so it is cheaper than ultrasonic guided wave generator. The method of emission stimulation and receive signal in short metal pipes is presented in the paper. In terms of the transmit characteristic of electromagnetic guided wave in pipes, as the stimulate pulse, a special single frequency pulse signal is chosen. The pulse has very high power in short time, so it is suitable for detection as the transmit signal. The defect information can be detected according to the receive signals.
