Zusammenfassung

Eine noch kompensierte Niereninsuffizienz kann klinisch inapparent sein. Heute sieht man in den Industrieländern nur noch selten die klassischen Symptome einer chronischen, dekompensierten Niereninsuffizienz in voller Ausprägung: generalisierte, v. a. periorbitale Ödeme, Foetor uraemicus, Schwäche oder gar Somnolenz und ein blasses, gelblich-graues Hautkolorit, welches durch die Anämie mit bedingt ist. Die Patienten leiden jedoch häufig unter den Folgeerscheinungen Hypertonie, Pruritus, Polyneuropathie und Osteopathie. Eine urämische Perikarditis kann vorkommen.
