Zusammenfassung
Die regelrechte Ausbildung und Entwicklung des maternoplazentaren und des fetoplazentaren Kreislaufs sind entscheidende Bedingungen für eine ausreichende Sauerstoff- und Nährstoffversorgung des Feten. Störungen der materno- bzw. der fetoplazentaren Durchblutung können zu intrauteriner Wachstumsretardierung, einer der wichtigsten Ursachen perinataler Morbidität und Mortalität, führen.
