Zusammenfassung
Die Labordiagnostik direkt am Krankenbett ist eine leistungsfähige Variante der Laboratoriumsmedizin, deren Entwicklung wesentlich durch die Miniaturisierung der Geräte und Verfahren sowie durch die Nutzung integrierter Informationstechniken begünstigt wird. Die in vielen Segmenten des Gesundheitsmarkts zu beobachtende Polarisierung der Organisationsstrukturen (Zentrallabor vs. POCT) unterstreicht diesen Eindruck: Die Diagnostik am Krankenbett oder in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Patienten stellt eine an Bedeutung gewinnende Handlungsoption im kontinuierlichen Wechselspiel von Diagnostik und Therapie dar [15].
