Abstract
In this chapter, we consider a time-selective block Rayleigh flat-fading channel. Within a block its temporal correlation corresponds to the stationary fading channel as it has been introduced in Chapter 2. The difference is that after a block of N transmit symbols, the fading state switches to a new independent realization. The stationary fading introduced in Chapter 2 corresponds to the special case of an infinitely large block size N. The motivation to study now a time-selective block Rayleigh flat-fading channel is on the onehand given by the fact that in many real systems communication on a specific channel resource is of finite length, consider therefore, e.g., a system using frequency hopping.
