Zusammenfassung

Die Erkenntnis, dass Leib und Seele sich wechselseitig beeinflussen, ist uraltes Wissen der Menschheit. Dies offenbart sich in volkstümlichen Redewendungen, in denen Körperfunktionen beschrieben werden, die sich durch seelische Erregung verändern: »Mir bleibt die Spucke weg.« »Das Herz schlägt einem bis zum Halse.« »Es schwinden einem die Sinne.« Diese Redewendungen entspringen der alltäglichen Erfahrung, dass Stimmungen und Gefühle sich sowohl vegetativ (sympathisch oder parasympathisch) als auch motorisch (Muskeltonus, Gestik und Mimik) niederschlagen.
