Zusammenfassung

In den gängigen Klassifikationssystemen werden depressive Erkrankungen (lat. deprimere = herunterdrücken, niederdrücken) den affektiven Störungen zugeordnet. Die unipolaren Depressionen zeichnen sich als Untergruppe der affektiven Störungen dadurch aus, dass depressive Symptome in einem bedeutsamen Ausmaß zu verzeichnen sind, ohne dass aktuell oder zuvor klinisch-bedeutsame manische Symptome vorliegen/- lagen.
