Zusammenfassung

Für viele Menschen ist es schwierig, schmerzliche Erfahrungen aus der Vergangenheit hinter sich zu lassen. Besonders dann, wenn es sich um erlittenes Unrecht, um seelische Verletzungen, erfahrene Ungerechtigkeit und ähnliches handelt, tragen nachhaltige Gefühle des Grolls, des Ärgers, der Bitterkeit und Wut, des Hasses und Zorns dazu bei, die Vergangenheit zu einem – zumindest emotional – ständig präsenten Teil der Gegenwart werden zu lassen. Die Folge dieser unabgeschlossenen, unerledigten Lebenserfahrungen ist in aller Regel, dass Niedergeschlagenheit und Depressivität vorherrschen und häufig psychotherapeutische Hilfe in Anspruch genommen werden muss. Eine Möglichkeit, erlittenes Unrecht zu bewältigen und die damit verbundenen negativen Erfahrungen hinter sich zu lassen, stellt die Vergebung dar (Antonuccio& Jackson, 2009).
