Abstract
This chapter will give an introduction to how the firm can manage its own agency relationships. This chapter will also explain the legal corporate governance tools available to a controlling shareholder who wants to change the behaviour of its own agents and how even a non-controlling shareholder can use some corporate governance tools to manage agency relationships. Such tools are important because it is usual for firms to invest in the shares of subsidiaries and other limitedliability companies and because the firm’s own share ownership structure will influence the allocation of power in the firm.
