Abstract
In Chap. 4, the nonlinear guiding center theory of cosmic ray perpendicular diffu- sion was discussed. As in other linear and nonlinear approaches, we find a diffusive behavior of perpendicular transport for the magnetostatic slab model. This is in dis- agreement with the results of test-particle simulations, where subdiffusion is found. An extended theory, which includes an improved treatment of the slab contribution, is presented in this chapter. In contrast to the original theory, the extended nonlin- ear guiding center theory shows agreement with numerical simulations for slab and nonslab models.
