In this chapter, a Framework for the Design and Development of Intelligent Organizations will be developed. This, then, will be a “dry” chapter. But defining concepts at the outset is crucial, if this book is to be more than mere entertainment for its readers. The citation above from the Fourth Gospel gives a notion of the power of concepts, and for me supplies the motivation to try to be as selective and precise as possible in the choice of concepts. This chapter is mainly dedicated to the definition of those ruling ideas which make up the Framework for the Design and Development of Intelligent Organizations. Being clear when introducing each concept has the additional advantage of helping one to avoid both misunderstandings and the abuse of terms as buzzwords, which are always reductive and often misleading.
