Abstract
During phonation the respiratory cycle changes. The vocal fold is composed of the thyroarytenoid muscle, its fibrous tissue cover, and the facing mucosa. Cyclic repetition of closing and opening movements of the vocal cords results in vibration. Voice production depends on neuromotor coordination of all muscles involved in phonation.
