Abstract

Meningioma is one of the most frequent intracranial tumours of nonglial origin (Buetow et al. 1991; Raskin 2003; Osborn 2004). According to data of various authors, the incidence of meningioma is from 13 to 20% of all primary brain tumours (Russell 1989; Orrison 2000), occupying first place in the group of the tumours originated from meninges (Sze 1993). Our data included about 5,000 patients with meningioma of a various locations, which, according to the statistics of the Moscow Neurosurgical Institute makes up about 23.9% of all brain tumours.
