Abstract

The importance of information (or content) is becoming more and more as computers penetrate everyday life. This has speeded up information management researches. We focus on information retrieval in this paper and present a classification of knowledge-based techniques which rely on semantic aspects of people and surroundings as well as data objects themselves. We also present the notion of cognition-based retrieval which counts our cognitive nature in retrieval processing as another promising approach.
