Summary

Much has been accomplished in the last few years since the first fringes of the large interferometers like Keck and VLTI. Many technical challenges have been met and tamed and a surprising amount of good science produced even with instrumentation that was far from its optimum configuration. I briefly review some of these accomplishments and describe what can and, hopefully, will be accomplished in the next decade by interferometry in the optical and IR provided the astronomical community continues to support this endeavour in the manner it deserves.
