Abstract
Physiotherapy (also known as physical therapy) is a health profession concerned with the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of disease and disability through physical means with the aim of restoring, maintaining and promoting overall fitness and health (Wikipedia, 2006). Their patients include accident victims and individuals with disabling conditions such as lower back pain, arthritis, heart disease, fractures, head injuries and cerebral palsy. It is based upon principles of medical science, and is generally held to be within the sphere of conventional medicine. Other patrons of physiotherapy can be expected to be individuals with disabilities; baby boomers entering prime age for heart attacks and strokes, as well as gym goers for general well-being. There is also an increasing interest in health promotion.
