An overview of satellite monitoring of volcanoes

Abstract

The North Pacific region is remote and vast (5,000 by 2,000 km), and includes several hundred volcanoes in Kamchatka, the Kurile Islands, Alaska, and the northwestern U.S.A. (Figure 9.1).
