Abstract
The propagation of elastic waves associated with longitudinal and torsional oscillation of rod-like bodies and transverse oscillation of thin stretched strips, strings, and cables is described mathematically by identical equation system - both in the differential form and by a finite element wave approach. The characteristic parameters are the unique internal force factor and one component of particle velocity. The time-independent speed of wave propagation has a known constant direction, though it may vary on specific elements. The specified generality of given problems allows them to be united in common group of simple one-dimensional wave processes.
