Abstract
A simple quantum mechanical method for calculation of a high frequency differential conductivity of hot ballistic electrons in heterostructures is developed. Application of this method to the heterostructures with a special potential profile demonstrates that it is possible to obtain the negative differential conductivity at THz frequencies due to the interference and quantum bunching of ballistic electrons.
